Amhara Region is one of the food in secured regions. The development challenges of the Region is considered to be recurrent drought, rapidly growing and largely rural population, limited on and off farm income alternatives and opportunities, poor market integration, limited access to basic services and information.
The Regional State since its establishment has been doing everything possible under its capacity to mitigate these problems and create an environment by which the people of the region could be self reliant.
In addition to the efforts being made by the Regional State to bring about sustainable development in the region, NGO's operating in the region are striving hard to contribute to the improvement of the livelihood of the people in the region, by implementing various socioeconomic projects.

At present, there are 344 NGO's ongoing projects agreed with Bureau of Finance and Economic Development and concerned Government Offices at all levels, whose total project budget is Birr 3,066,695,863 in cash and 7,710 Metric Ton of food aid in kind and 15,153,005 people are direct beneficiaries of the projects.
One of the major duties and responsible, laities of BoFED is to oversee and coordinate the overall development endeavors pursued by NGO's to that end the bureau has prepared this updated booklet that can help concerned government offices and relevant stakeholders at all levels to monitor and follow up NGO's projects.
